Fatloss Myths Exposed
by Jon Benson
Author, “The Every Other Day Dietplan”
http://www.everyotherdaydiet.com/go/trobison

There are many myths around fatloss and even obesity. One of the most popular is that obese people simply eat too much. In most cases this is true. In some cases however obese individuals do not consume more food than people whose body weight is considered normal. Some eat so little that their metabolic rate slows down and starts the fat storage cycle in the body. There are also a series of hormonal and psychological factors that create conditions that lead to obesity and weight gain.

Many people carry too much body fat without being clinically obese. These individuals may not even be overweight. I have measured the body fat of models who were rail thin yet had body fat readings over thirty percent. Many of these individuals claim to have healthy dietplans and participate in vigorous exercise, but their bodies to betray their beliefs.

If you are overweight, chances are great that you can manage the condition. Even with strong genetics toward excess fat storage, obesity in over ninety-five percent of obesity can be reversed with relatively simple lifestyle changes. Rarely is surgery or drugs a necessary alternative. Even when such an extreme is called for, lifestyle changes are still mandatory for long-term health and weight management.

New Rules

The book “Fight Club”, which was made into a movie in 1999, had an interesting way of banishing the half-hearted from their rather extreme but effective clique. One of the principle characters, Tyler Durden, offered the group a simple list of rules to follow. You were either in or out–there was no middle ground. I thought it would be humorous to share his do or die rules with you:

1. You don’t ask questions.
2. You don’t ask questions. (repeated twice for emphasis)
3. No excuses.
4. No lies.
5. You have to trust Tyler.

Are you glad my name is not Tyler?

All kidding aside, the rules above have a bit of animal wisdom within them. While I am not advising you to cease asking questions (in fact, I advise the opposite when it comes to achieving life-long motivation), I am asking you to stop driving yourself crazy looking for the ideal dietplan and start applying practical guidelines like I will cover in The Every Other Day Dietplan. We all want that secret plan or magic pill that will end our weight loss woes. I will save you the suspense and tell you what you probably already know–it does not exist.

There is information that you currently do not know. Once revealed, that information can appear to have been a “secret”. In reality, a secret is just something you did not know a few seconds before it was revealed to you. Using that definition, you are about to learn many secrets. Some of them will go against conventional wisdom. I am asking for your open-minded consideration, and for you not to talk yourself out of beginning something new out of analysis paralysis.

If you do nothing but search and ask, you will never find and apply.

When folks pick up my book “The Every Other Day Dietplan”, I ask them to do one thing, first and foremost: Apply the principles. Do not just read it. I want you to do as Judge Reinhold’s character in Fast Times at Ridgemont High suggested–”Learn it. Know it. Live it.”

As for the “no excuses” and “no lies” bit, I think that stands on its own. We have made too many excuses in the past. We have lied to ourselves about our true desires as well. Think about it. Do you really “love” pizza…or do you love your family?

The small lies we tell ourselves can radically affect our subconscious mind. The subconscious knows no distinction between fact and fiction. The last thing you want to do is continually deceive yourself with seemingly innocent slang. You do not love pizza. You may enjoy pizza, for sure, but you cannot love it. Your subconscious can actually begin to respond to “loving pizza” and increase your craving for it (or any food) via the association it already has to the word “love”. After all, it is only natural to crave more of what we continually tell our minds we love.

Can you see the potential danger in self-deception, even when it appears innocent on the surface?

Likewise, you do not hate yourself. You are probably much like me. I hated my condition, but I loved myself enough to want to change it. I did not have my self. Doesn’t this sound more like the truth to you?

Try saying this out-loud:

“I love myself so much that I now demand a life of health, vitality, and leanness!”

That is the truth! That is what you really want. No more lies and no more excuses. They just fuel the fires that burn in troubled hills.

As far as trust is concerned, all I ask is that you trust that little voice inside. This is the voice of reason that can often be muted by the noise of our daily lives and our pre-programmed answers that are more denial than fact. You can trust that I have been where you are and have helped thousands get to where you want to go. But I do not know all the answers. No one does.

What I do know is how to help you discover the answers that work best for you. Using the guidelines within this book, you can find most, if not all of those answers. You can put an end to the excuses and the self-deception.

You can start to enjoy life again. And, you can start today.

7 Minute Science
The science behind brevity training
by Jon Benson, Author of 7 Minute Muscle
http://www.7minutemuscle.com/go/trobison

A funny thing happened on the way to the promo…

(I always wanted to start an article like that.)

A few months ago I released a book whose title was more reminiscent of a line out of “There’s Something About Mary” than a serious work on fitness. “7 Minute Muscle” — yep, it’s getting more and more difficult to distinguish fact from parody.

Here’s the real irony: Of the 27 testimonials I’ve received so far that I deem worthy of publishing on the web, over a dozen were from fitness professionals. I’m not talking about “doctors” with a gut as large as their paycheck. I’m speaking of men and women with both academic and real-world experience in the fitness and bodybuilding world.

There were exceptions of course. My friend John Berardi, while saying some nice things about the work, couldn’t endorse it due to the emphasis on shorter training sessions. That’s cool. Everyone has a different approach. But the overwhelming number of folks with consonants behind their names — those who read the book and applied the principles — had wonderful things to say.

There’s a reason for that: The workout protocol is based on the science of hypertrophy as well as psychophysiology, the study of the mind/body connection.

I will delve into the mental aspects of the protocols in a later article. For now, since most of you are experienced, educated and (dare I say it) hard-core, let’s delve into the meat.

7 Minute Muscle is primarily a density-based training system. It demands varying rep ranges done within specific time periods. The protocol factors six of the primary variables of hypertrophy, or muscle growth: Intensity, Load, Volume, Density, Time and Force. (Time includes rest intervals as well as the time required to perform a given task.)

A layman’s take on one of the basic laws of physics states that time and energy are interrelated. Doing the same amount of work in less time demands more energy, which translates into more power. While power is a factor in training, our interest is focused on forcing muscle growth and adaptation. This is also an element of time and energy. More energy expended in less time = more power.

If you break down the typical 3-4 set bench press routine, with reps starting at 12 and ending in the 4-6 range, with longer rest intervals between heavier sets, you’ll find that the aggregate weight lifted is “less” than a protocol like 7 Minute Muscle, which uses ‘less’ weight (easier on the joints) but demands more work in less time. In other words, X amount of repetitions done with Y amount of weight in just 5 minutes (phase 1 of our two-phase protocol) ends up being greater than your typical 3-4 set protocol, despite the fact that more weight is used in the latter.

Other routines, of course, utilize this factor of density. Vince Gironda’s infamous 8 sets of 8, EDT and so-forth. 7 Minute Muscle goes a bit further by varying rest, load factors and repetition range. Reps will vary from as low as one rep to as much as ten, and all of this is at the trainee’s discretion. They have only one objective: Increase the aggregate repetition count from one training session to the next. Since time is limited (broken down into two phases: A Power Phase of no more than 5 repetitions and a Mass Phase of no more than 10 repetitions) the trainee is given a system that more accurately measure the seventh and most crucial factor of hypertrophy: Progression.

More work in less time. Variable repetition ranges. Variable rest intervals. And all in seven minutes (for beginners.) Intermediate and advanced-level trainees are given 14 and 21-minute protocols if they wish to implement them. I myself rarely go beyond 14 minutes, as that is all that’s required to stimulate muscle growth.

I will cover health factors, cardiovascular work, ab training, and the science of mind and body in future articles. For now, give 7 Minute Muscle a shot. There’s nothing funny about it, except for the fact that you’ll be laughing all the way home from the gym as you finished your killer workout while your buddies were still warming up.

Manifesting Life Within The Moments

Manifesting Life Within The Moments

Take a pen and a sheet of paper and just start doodling. Seriously.

Congratulations — you’ve just created something from nothing…an image that never existed before nor will ever exist again, carved from the moments of your alloted time on this planet.

Hang with me — this all deals with your level of fitness, the power of your mind, and the success you have in your life…

http://www.mpowerseries.com/go/trobison

Any child recognizes their power to create. Most even realize the power to mold their own destinies. Children know when they’ve done something “wrong”, even when they’re doing it in most cases. They also know the “destiny” that awaits them in the form of dad coming home from work! Perhaps they do not know the particulars, but they get the basic idea.

Somewhere along the way, someone or something talked most of us out of the idea that we have anything to do with our destiny, let alone that we can manifest our moments, literally creating our destiny by existing fully within the moments we are given and making the most out of them.

To some, this sounds as if one is trying to “play God”…but this is not true. Instead, I believe that we are called by existence itself to manage our lives and our destiny through the application of powerful, truthful thinking that inspires consistent, Core-motivated action.

That was a long sentence, but an important one. Let’s break it down.

M-Power is founded on the Principle of Core Ethics ™. This applies to your body, mind, relationships…you name it.

Core Ethics is a combination of three crucial and universal truths:

1. Truth
2. Responsibility
3. Abundance

More specifically, truthful thinking, ruthless responsibility, and flowing abundance. These are the key distinctions within my key distinctions!

All three of these distinctions are covered heavily in M-Power, but for today I’d like to give you some broad-stroke truths to apply in the art of manifesting your moments.

First, by thinking truthfully (as opposed to “positively” or “irrationally”), one can see that words become our world. James Allen took a passage from the Bible to clarify this in his book, “As A Man Thinketh.” What we think produces a conversation with our self — the most important of all conversations, as it’s by far the longest. This produces the words we say to ourselves and to others. These words are either based in truth or based in fiction.

Saying, “I’m going to die if I don’t get some ice cream” is, of course, utter fiction. Yet most people use this type of language all the time. The opposite is the “positive thinking” camp — the ones who look in the mirror and say, “I’m fit, and I’m beautiful!” when they’re not…and they’re not!

The alternative, and the way to begin manifesting your destiny in the moment, rather than in some far away, mystical “someday”, is to say this:

“I am in the process of learning what I need to know in order to become more fit, healthy and attractive every day of my life.”

This is not a false statement if you are so much as reading this article!

Remember this scientific fact: any form of energy that is non-truth creates dissonance, and dissonance remodels cellular structure. That sounds kinda complex, but all I’m saying is this:

You lie, you die.

Really.

Photographs of water prove this point. Saying things that are not true to the speaker changes the structure of water molecules. Speaking words of hate do the same. You are programmed to live in harmony with yourself, and the language we use on a daily basis is often the opposite of harmony. It is the creation of dissonance. And we wonder why we have all this mental and physical disease in our world!

Your very cells scream out, “Take responsibility!” Speak in truth, both out loud and to yourself, and watch what happens.

This level of accountability to yourself will produce flowing abundance, or wealth in every area of your life that flows outward rather than remains bottled up inside of you. “Canning abundance” as I call it is a sure-fire way to total overwhelm in life. You must share it — and by doing so, you reap more.

Become a manifestor of moments; moments that add up to the time of your life.

You can start today by joining up with an entire team dedicated to three things in your life: your health, your wealth, and your total abundance.

Practical Life Extension
What Modern Science Says About Reversing The Aging Process

There’s an old proverb that rings with wit and reason: “Everyone wants to go to heaven but no one wants to die.” So why do we want to live forever? According to Dr. Sanjay Gupta, author of “Chasing Life” and CNN’s Senior Medical Corespondent, we do not.

The real quest isn’t eternal life on earth according to Gupta, but rather an exceptional life.

While interviewing the foremost authorities on anti-aging and life extension, Dr. Gupta discovered three “universals” — three principles that each researcher deemed critical to extending our lives naturally and empowering us to live exceptionally. They are:

1. Weight training

2. Good nutrition

3. Positive thinking and having purpose

Jon Benson, author of “Fit Over 40″, explores each of these in great detail, as well as asking 52 men and women how they have managed to slow the hands of time down to a crawl. Benson does not waste time with hype and hypothesis. He focuses on real-world examples and applications we can all use to slow down the aging process and help prevent and reverse the conditions that can lead to disease.

Discover more today at http://www.fitover40.com/go/trobison

You too can live a longer, more exceptional life by simply adopting a smart, realistic and enjoyable lifestyle fitness plan. And if science just happens to catch up with Father Time, you’ll be many steps ahead of the curve.
